OUR MISSION
The Office of the Belize Film Commissioner fosters economic growth by promoting Belize as a film and production location to the global screen industry, offering support so that productions can accomplish their work in Belize smoothly, and encouraging the professional development of local industry stakeholders by offering training and screening opportunities.
FILM COMMISSIONER
Carlo Habet has always been inspired by film, his passion for movies spurred him to not only form Ignite, the country’s leader in audiovisual content but also Veritas Productions, which produces original Belizean films. His versatility is unmatched as Carlo switches gears often while working with various organizations such as the National Institute of Culture and History, the National Bank of Belize, and the Belize National Association of Real Estate, and is always on top of his game.
As Film Commissioner, Carlo’s vision for the film industry in Belize is two-fold. Firstly, it’s bringing the world to Belize and Belize to the world, advertising Belize as a premiere destination for filmmaking and making it a tool for economic growth that allows for the creation of new stable jobs within the creative industry. Secondly, it’s taking advantage of this boom in industry growth so that Belizeans can make their own films and create a distinct identity for Belize and Belizeans on film.
Carlo is an experienced businessman who knows the intrinsic value of doing good business and his goal is to make filming in Belize as seamless and enjoyable as possible. His breadth of experience enhances his creative problem solving skills and ability to collaborate with others effectively at the highest levels.
